24 Hour Crime Spree by Serial Killer Comes to Bloody End
By Frasier MacLeod, Cub Reporter
The early morning peaceful slumber of most Los Santos residents was shockingly pierced by sirens and gunfire this morning in the historic Pillbox Hills region behind the hospital. The turmoil marked the close of a dark chapter in our community's recent history. One unfortunate victim, identified on Twitter as Julie Westwood, posted a picture of herself at Legion Square mere moments before she was brutally slain. A passerby posted a picture of her body still at the crime scene less than twenty minutes later as dusk fell and the light faded.
Miss Julie Westwood in her last moments
Unbeknownst to most residents, even those who were part of a lucky group of survivors, a bloodthirsty serial killer had been on the prowl hunting victims almost at will. The first known attack attributed to the killer occurred on Monday afternoon when a female victim was discovered in Legion Square with her throat cut from ear to ear. Notes discovered around the body provided a glimpse inside the twisted mind of the killer, but provided no clue that a serial killer was at work. Later Monday, according to law enforcement sources who have requested anonymity as they are not authorized to speak about the case, several victims were located in a span of hours, many killed in a variety of methods involving a knife, with the only thing linking the victims together being the presence of similar handwritten notes. Reporters have not yet been permitted to review the notes, however one unidentified Undersheriff of BCSO was overheard at one crime scene describing one of the notes as a "Haiku", an ancient form of disciplined poetry originating millennia ago in feudal Japan.
As Monday turned into Tuesday, bodies continued to pile up at the City Morgue and an anonymous source with the Medical Examiner's office is reported to have requested a freezer-equipped tractor trailer from Paleto Bay based "Cluckin' Chicken" to handle the overflow of dead bodies. Our bookish Medical Examiner, Dr. Wilem MacLeod, is reported to have been working around the clock performing autopsies and other related laboratory procedures in an attempt to keep up with the constant flow of new victims in order to provide the investigators with clues and information that they were able to use in order to track and eventually catch this vicious psychopath.
An anonymous law enforcement source stated that the case broke wide open just after midnight this morning with an innocent comment attributed to EMS phenom Firefighter and EMT Sweet Pepper who reportedly informed investigators of the Serial Killer Task Force that the final victim, who miraculously survived only through the exhaustive efforts of EMT Pepper, claimed that her car, a black Dodge Viper, had been stolen by the killer from the scene of the attack at Legion Square. Recordings of law enforcement radio chatter reveal that mere moments after Deputy Humphrey DaHorse issued a BOLO notice for the victims car, employees at Pillbox Hospital reported that a similar vehicle had recently arrived at the hospital driven by a dark haired woman who was seeking treatment for minor yet undisclosed injuries. The entire on-duty law enforcement contingent, converged on the hospital and made contact with the female as she attempted to reenter the stolen vehicle. Police dispatch radio traffic indicates that much adored Deputy Valentina Orvez valiantly initiated a foot pursuit with the suspect which culminated with a brutal knife attack on Deputy DaHorse in the lower parking lot of Pillbox Hospital. Several officers discharged their weapons bringing the suspect to the ground where she was promptly handcuffed and arrested. Deputy Bobby Brantley was seen by eyewitnesses being congratulated at the scene for firing the shot that ended the brutal work of the serial killer. Following medical treatment for several gunshot wounds the suspect was transported under extreme armed guard to MRPD. Streets around the hospital remained closed for several hours, while investigators from all the major law enforcement agencies, as well as the District Attorney himself, were observed walking the scene and searching for further evidence. Unconfirmed reports state that the suspect is a 22 year old Japanese-American female named Tomoe Runja, although this information could not be verified prior to our press deadline.
Our entire community owes a debt of gratitude to our fearless and dashing Sheriff Loki Windrunner and boyish but manly LSPD Lieutenant Chad Hillz who personally and tirelessly led the Serial Killer Task Force to it's successful conclusion. Early reports are that almost a dozen victims were killed and another 4 to 8 victims survived their attacks. At least two of the victims were attacked twice during this viscous bloody spree. Residents of the community were relieved to learn of the arrest, but many reported that they were locking their doors for the first time in many years.
The suspect is being held pending trial according to confidential sources within the D.A.'s Office. A trial date has yet to be announced, but is expected to be standing room only.
